Our Camp Speaker

Our speaker this week is Mark Herbster. His family (without their latest addition) is pictured at left. I have known Mark for a long time and am thankful for his ministry and his integrity. I think I first met Mark, his twin brother Mike and their older brother Matt at a basketball tournament in high school, then knew them at Bob Jones University and we have been friends since then. Mark ministered in our Good Friday service at ICBC a number of years ago. Two years ago, I spent some time with them in Guam.

Mark travels as an evangelist with his wife Amy and their children. I would encourage you to check out their website. Mark and Mike are gifted in communicating through song as well. They have made multiple God-honoring recordings of good Christian music. I would highly recommend you purchase one of their recordings for your edification at home and in the car.

As Amy mentioned, Mark is “Major Mark” this week. He is communicating a series on being a “good soldier of Jesus Christ.” One way he is connecting with the kids this week is unique. One of his points last night was to be “steadfast.” He told the kids they could come to him any time this week, ask him if he is steadfast, and if he says yes, they could punch him as hard as they can in the stomach. Just to warn you, if your children ask you if you are steadfast when you get home, tighten your abs before you answer! 🙂

Pray for us and pray for the Herbster family as Mark is away from them speaking here this week!

Off now to lunch. Cheeseburgers and Tater Tots!!!
