Tuesday: A Great Day

Hey Folks,

It is Tuesday night. Tuesday was a great day! Here are the highlights.

I read a quote from Orson Wells: “Ask not what your country can do for you…Ask what’s for lunch.” Ok, then, what did your kids eat today?

  • Breakfast: Pancakes, Sausage, Orange Juice
  • Lunch: Cheeseburgers, Fries, Fiber One bar for dessert (who in the world’s idea was that???)
  • Dinner: Tacos, Rice, Corn, Chocolate Chip Cookies

The morning activity was mainly pictures and cabin games. We caught most of the brother/sister cabin pictures. See if you can find your kid.

Amy spent much of the afternoon at the waterfront with the girls for their swimming/waterslide time. I hung out with the guys at the coffee shop (Ugly Mug), the Mineshaft snack room, The climbing wall, game room, zipline, shooting range, etc., then did some work while they got ready for dinner. After dinner, the evening activity was called “Domino Dodge” where the kids formed spokes of a wheel, then when their spoke was called they ran around the wheel, dodging giant dominos (to go with the weeks’ theme of “Classic Games”). It was a little rough and tumble, but the girls were easy on each other. No injuries among us!

“Major Mark” spoke this morning on “The Most Important Person in the Battle: The Commander.” Mark challenged the kids from various passages on knowing God, our Commander. 1) He is always present with us. 2) He is perfect. 3) He is powerful. 4) He is preeminent (always in first place). We must follow Him by loving Him, listening to Him, learning about Him and living for Him.

Tonight, “Major Mark” spoke from John 14:6 “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, but by me.” He encouraged the kids to turn from their sinful way and to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It was a good, clear presentation of the simple gospel truth.

Thank you for your continued prayers. Pastor Doran asked Amy to sing for Dr. Rice’s funeral. Since he was her pastor for many years, she was glad to do so, so she drove down this evening and will return to camp after the funeral tomorrow.  Enjoy the pictures below. Thank you for the updates/pictures. 🙂 We told M that we still had a “spy” up there. He’ll be relieved that you caught him “Dewless”.
